Carlos Y Los Cachorros has returned with a new single and music video, “Vida De Rico,” a Tejano style cumbia cover of the international hit song from Colombian singer Camilo.
Carlos Y Los Cachorros frontman Carlos Rodriguez tells Tejano Nation the idea for the track came from watching TikTok.
“I kept coming across it and before I knew it, I was singing the chorus all the time,” said Rodriguez. “I told my brother, check this song out, and we took it, we ran with it. Got into the Discos Solcar recording studio and this is what we created.”
The official music video for the cumbia was done quarantine style with a personal touch.
“We wanted to do something a little more personal and I remember seeing all these quarantine videos throughout the year, during the COVID crisis,” said Rodriguez. “I told my brother that we never got to do a video like that. I’d like to do a video just like that and make it more personal, the one-on-one basis with the fans.”
Carlos Y Los Cachorros plan to release a new album on September 1. The album will feature 10 tracks, including a collaboration with Kumbia Kings vocalist DJ Kane.
