
WASHINGTON, DC – (LATINX NEWSWIRE) – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), the premier national nonprofit organization dedicated to developing the next generation of Latino leaders, will be hosting its 2021 Leadership Conference and 44th Annual Awards Gala on September 20-23 – the largest and most influential Hispanic nonpartisan event in Washington, DC, which serves to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month.
In alignment with the theme for 2021, Presente: Latinos Leading the Way, the CHCI Leadership Conference will convene thousands of national thought leaders to experience an engaging virtual lineup of national leaders, elected officials, policymakers, and influencers recognized for their vision, expertise, and influence across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
This year’s agenda will touch upon a wide range of today’s most critical issues for the Latino community, including:
— Environmental justice
— Latina leadership
— Latino economic advancement
— Racial and social equity
— Healthcare after COVID-19
— Education
— Latino voices in media and entertainment
— Immigration
The conference culminates with the 44th Annual Awards Gala on Thursday, September 23, a celebration that highlights CHCI’s work and serves to bestow the Medallion of Excellence, CHCI’s highest honor, to Latinos who have excelled with their contributions. Past recipients of the Medallion of Excellence include trailblazers such as Astronaut Dr. Ellen Ochoa, Chef José Andrés, Novelist Isabel Allende, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, among others. Past musical performers at the awards include Tito Nieves, Ruben Blades, and Paulina Rubio.
