Popstar Becky G will grace the cover of the September edition of Hola! USA for the magazine’s music and fashion issue. The 22-year-old singer channeled her musical influences for the photoshoot including late Latin music icon Selena.

In the cover story, Becky G talks about how she is ‘100% proud’ of her Mexican heritage. This extends to her admiration of Latina performers who have come before her. “I would say people like Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Jenni Rivera, Selena Quintanilla, and other female Latina artists have always inspired me because of their authenticity,” Becky says in the article.

For her glittering photoshoot, Becky G dressed like some of her favorite artists, including Selena Quintanilla, Madonna, Cher, and Diana Ross, think glitter, leather, and ultimate glamour.

Becky G spoke about Selena in an interview with Hola! USA, “Selena Quintanilla, I think of the word ‘happy’. She always had a smile on her face. Very humble, hard worker, very family-oriented.”

The “Mayores” singer was the headliner at the 2018 Fiesta De La Flor, the annual two-day music festival that celebrates the life and music of Selena in her hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas.

The September issue of Hola! USA magazine featuring Becky G on the cover is available now at newsstands everywhere.
