A music festival honoring late Tejano music icon Jimmy Gonzalez is confirmed for next month in his hometown.

A music festival honoring late Tejano music icon Jimmy Gonzalez has been confirmed for June in his hometown, according to his family.

A social media post by Adolfo Garcia, son of Cindy Garcia, Gonzalez’s sister, the first annual Forever Jimmy G Festival is scheduled for June 30 at Dean Porter Park in Brownsville, Texas.

“It’s official…The 1st Annual Forever Jimmy G Festival is going to be on Sunday, June 30th @ Dean Porter Park here in Brownsville, Tx across from the Zoo,” Adolfo confirmed via Facebook. “We are still taking in all kinds of vendors! If you sell arts & crafts, jewelry, clothing, memorabilia, food trucks, food booths, have any kind of exhibition please hit me up! The bigger the better. If you would like to be part of the annual festival in any way, please contact me .”

Gonzalez was a pioneer, a legend and a multiple Grammy Award winner that achieved international acclaim as co-founder of one of the most successful Tejano groups ever, Mazz. He died of cardiac arrest in June 2018. He was 67.
