AJ Castillo talks about starting his new record label, new projects, including a children’s book, and promoting Tejano music to new fans in a candid Behind The Mic interview with the Cruz Control with AC Cruz podcast.
The Latin Grammy winner talked about his start in Tejano music, including being introduced to the accordion by his grandfather at about age 10, his work as a studio musician during college with 16-time Grammy winner Gilbert Velasquez and the release of his debut album Who I Am in 2009 that earned him Best New Male Artist at the 2010 Tejano Music Awards.
Castillo’s passion is to promote Tejano music to a new generation of fans. He does this with his signature accordion sound and style introducing a fresh new urban/fusion sound to energize the Tejano scene for the “new movement” and next generation of fans.
