José paid tribute to late Tejano icon Emilio Navaira with a cover of “Fíjate Mamá” for his latest single.

“With much respect to the Navaira family, I present my interpretation of the song ‪Emilio Navaira‬ shaped into an enormous hit, ‘Fíjate Mamá’,” José said. “I wanted to present something upbeat for Spring, Easter and Summer 2019 and in doing this I hope to make everyone appreciate a feel good, dance song and to always keep the memory of Tejano’s #1 Act alive. Gracias por todo Emilio.”

“Fíjate Mamá” is the classic hit originally recorded by Navaira in 1991 from his iconic Shoot It! album.

“I found myself feeling much like the lyrics of this song and in covering this song I was able to express my feelings and in addition, I was able to give it my feel and concept,” José added. “Overall this song should be celebrated in dance and over a good bbq!”

“Fíjate Mamá” will be available at all major digital music outlets on April 19.
