Neto Gutierrez pays homage to late music legend Jimmy Gonzalez with the release of his latest solo single “Jimmy G Medley” on Friday (April 5).

Produced by Eddie Perez, the medley delivers his take on two classic tunes, that features vocals from Gonzalez, “Hoy” and “No Te Volveré A Querer.”

“When I was thinking of which of the many hits to cover, I selected these two because both songs featured Jimmy Gonzalez on lead vocals, in a time where Jimmy G was not yet the lead vocalist,” said Gutierrez.

Gonzalez was a pioneer, a legend and a multiple Grammy Award winner and went on to achieve international acclaim as part of one of the most successful Tejano groups ever. He died of cardiac arrest in June 2018. He was 67.

“I was a Jimmy Gonzalez fan before Jimmy was on his own,” Gutierrez told Tejano Nation. “I admired this guy.”

“Jimmy G Medley” will be available at all digital music outlets soon.

Gutierrez, the former lead vocalist for Tejano Highway 281, is planning a full solo album later this year.
