Gerardo Alvarez announced he will be working on a solo album and many more projects with Mar Records during an interview with Tejano Nation.

The lead vocalist and frontman for Los Gallitos made the announcement at the 38th annual Tejano Music Awards.

“I’m so excited, this is the first time I’m doing something new,” said Alvarez. “It’s venturing off to something from a band to a solo artist. It’s so different, but hopefully you guys will enjoy the next album that’s coming out. It’s going to be awesome!”

Alvarez gave details on what to expect from his solo project, “It’s just a bunch of different ideas, different styles. I always like to mess around with other genres and just kind of combine it into a fusion, and that’s what you guys are going to see, something different. It’s different, but you guys are going to love it, hopefully.”

The singer, songwriter and producer has also been working on other projects with his record label MAR Records, including writing and producing songs for labelmate Sarah Monique, and the debut single for viral sensation Allison Vela.
