Producer and musician Eddie Perez of La Calma has started his own independent record label, Steady Music, that features artists Stevie D and the Conjunto Cats.
Perez made the announcement via his Facebook page on February 23. “So I was waiting for the right time, our website and a few other things to be up and running before I made it official, but I can no longer wait. I am proud to announce the beginning of a New Independent Record Label ‘Steady Music’. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time and I now have the right TEAM to do it with!”
Steady Music’s first release was in October with the debut solo album, De Repente, from Stevie D, a former backup vocalist for Joe Lopez Y La Nueva Imagen Mazz. The album featured the hit singles “Como Fue” and “Me Crei De Ti.”
Perez wants to use his over 20 years of experience in the Tejano music industry to help artists release a quality product for fans.
“With all the experience over the past 20 years, I can’t even believe I’ve been in the business 20 years,” Perez told Tejano Nation. “But, I want to use the knowledge and a lot of things I’ve learned over the years, I used to be around when everybody use to be with Capitol and Sony and all those days, and I remember the work ethic that used to go into that and I want to hopefully apply that and bring good quality to the product that we put out.”
Steady Music’s next expected album release will be Beyond The Law from the Conjunto Cats.
“We’re trying to do a little bit of each genre,” Perez said about the Steady Music’s roster. “Stevie D. is 100% Tejano, if you love Tejano music, people will love that. Conjunto Cats are straight conjunto and we’re just trying to keep it versatile on the genres that we’re putting out.”
Perez added that he plans to grow Steady Music into a multimedia company that will also include production, graphic design, video production and more.
