Richard Ramirez, backup vocalist for Eddie Gonzalez Y Grupo Natural, died Saturday night after collapsing on stage during a performance at the Grasshopper Club in San Antonio.

Ramirez’s death was confirmed in a statement from Troy Castillo, agent for Eddie Gonzalez Y Grupo Natural.

“On behalf of myself and Eddie Gonzalez Y Grupo Natural, last night we loss a friend, a brother, a bandmate. Know to all as BBQ Richard, ” Castillo wrote on Facebook. “He did what he love to do…sing vocals with Eddie Gonzalez . We had some great memories. You will be truly missed. To the Ramirez Family we keep you in our thoughts and prayers may god comfort your sorrows. To our fans we ask for prayers.”

A source close to the band says Ramirez may have suffered a heart attack on stage.
