El Dusty released the official music video for his latest nu-kumbia single, “Kanto Negro” featuring Jah Fabio, on Thursday.
The visual for the latest track from the Latin GRAMMY nominee was filmed during the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in Mexico City back in February.
The Corpus Christi native is at the forefront of a sound he calls “the new cumbia,” updating a genre that dates back centuries by adding EDM synths and a digging-in-the-crates approach to samples. It translates a Southern Texas border experience into new barrio anthems featuring chopped clips of Latin music history, using cut samples from his massive collection of old school Latin vinyl as the instruments for his original tracks.
El Dusty was nominated for a Latin GRAMMY in 2016 in the Best Urban Fusion/Performance category with his track “Cumbia Anthem” feat Happy Colors.
“Kanto Negro” is available now at all digital platforms, including the Tejano Nation Amazon MP3 store.
