A benefit concert for Tejano music legend Jessy Serrata, who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 kidney cancer, is scheduled for Sunday, May 21 in Houston, Texas.
The concert will feature Tejano music legends Ruben Ramos and Augustin Ramirez. The show will also include Rick Fuentes & The Brown Express, Avizo, David Marez, Chente Barrera and more at Rebels Honky Tonk, 5002 Washington Ave.
Serrata was admitted into the hospital on April 24, where tests confirmed the 63-year-old singer has stage 3 kidney cancer.
Serrata, also known as “Mr. Iron Throat,” has appeared on over 17 albums and was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2004 for his album Better Than Ever.
The benefit will help to cover medical costs for Serrata.
