Michael Salgado was recognized for his contributions to the music industry and charitable organizations with a proclamation and resolution at the Texas State Capitol on May 2.

Texas State Representative Eddie Lucio III, of District 38, filed and passed House Resolution 1366 honoring Salgado for his success and charitable efforts through his organization, the Para Mi Gente Foundation.

“Mr. Salgado is not only a gifted performer, but a passionate philanthropist,” Rep. Lucio said in a press release. “Over the years, Mr. Salgado has demonstrated a high level of dedication to his community.”

Salgado’s Para Mi Gente Foundation benefits the community through efforts with the Children’s Shelter of San Antonio, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

For over two decades, Salgado had great success with several hit singles and Billboard Magazine’s Latin Top Ten hits like “Cruz de Madera”, “Sin Ella”, and “Ya No Voy Aguantar”. Among many other awards and accolades, he also received the 2007 Latin Grammy for Best Norteño Album, 2012 Billboard Latin Music Award for Best Regional Mexican Album, and 2016 Latin Grammy for Best Tejano Album.
