Carlos Y Los Cachorros released the album Atrapado in 1998 and with the help of the title track, the album became very successful, reaching Gold status. The band never received recognition for the huge accomplishment, until recently.
During the band’s 2017 Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair performance on Thursday night in San Antonio, the band was interrupted by Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair producer Bino G. right before the band was to play the hit title track from the album.
“Carlos had no idea what was coming,” said Julie Rodriguez, manager and promoter for Carlos Y Los Cachorros. “He had always mentioned to me, ‘I wish I had my gold records to show my kids that dreams do come true if I work hard enough.’ His oldest daughter Anissa was on stage with Bino to present her dad his Gold Album.”
Carlos Rodriguez was surprised and very emotional after he was given the long overdue honor.
“I waited many years to be able to hang a Gold Record on my wall,” Carlos posted about the plaque on Facebook. “I’m super happy and this is just a reminder that dreams do come true and that if we work hard enough, all our goals can be conquered. Thank you to everyone that has ever purchased a Carlos Y Los Cachorros album and gone to our shows. Its because of you that this now hangs on my wall.”
Carlos Y Los Cachorros released their latest album, Corazon Necio, in June 2016 and is available now at all online digital retailers.
