Grammy winner Rick Fuentes talks about the comeback of The Brown Express and introduced the band’s new lead vocalist Cristelo Valverde during a recent interview with Tejano Nation.
Tejano Nation caught up with Fuentes and Valverde at the Los Aguilares 56th anniversary dance in San Antonio, Texas on January 14.
Fuentes, who spent over 20 years as part of Ruben Ramos and The Mexican Revolution, is now bringing back the legendary band, The Brown Express.
“Brown Express was a band my dad had, back in the late 70s, early 80s, and it’s been a dream of mine to brink that band one day and the time is now,” Fuentes told Tejano Nation. “I’m excited, I have a new CD coming out in, about a couple of weeks and we have a music video coming out.”
Valverde is the band’s lead vocalist and Fuentes said he found the singer on YouTube.
“I first saw him on YouTube,” Fuentes added. “He was singing ‘Volver, Volver’, I’m thinking, man, this kid can sing. I’m gonna get him to sing with me one day and sure enough, it’s happening now.”
