Singers Isabel Marie Sanchez and Sebastien De La Cruz competed together at the 2016 Ford Canoe and Kayak Challenge on Saturday (August 6) in San Antonio, Texas.
The teen duo competed in the celebrity course that spans 1 and 1/4 mile from Chamber of Commerce Building to Rivercenter Mall and back to Chamber of Commerce. All the action was caught on video via 13-year-old Isabel Marie’s Facebook live video. The New Girl In Town singer was paddling in the bow (front) position of the canoe as 14-year-old De La Cruz steered from the stern (back). Check out the video below of the duo paddling their way down the San Antonio Riverwalk.
The Ford Canoe and Kayak Challenge is hosted by the Boy Scouts of America, Paseo del Rio Association, and San Antonio River Authority. The event is a highly spirited canoe competition that started back in 1969 to help Scouts understand teamwork. Since the late 1980’s it opened to the public and is a chance for approximately 100 two-person teams to compete in timed heats. Participation is open to the public, local celebrities, city officials, corporations and Boy & Girl Scouts. This is the only time the city allows canoes in the downtown River Walk area.
