Minnesota-based Tejano singer La Peligrosa released the official video for “Cumbia De La Peligrosa” on Wednesday (June 22).
“Cumbia De La Peligrosa” is the third single released from the St. Paul, Minnesota singer’s debut album Hoy. The high-powered, frisky cumbia was written by Hector A. Costilla and Toledo rapper Eddy Gardo, who is also featured on the single.
“Initially, I had reservations about releasing this song because it was ‘out of the box’,” Peligrosa told Tejano Nation. “I was worried it would scare off Tejano music lovers, because of it’s innovative sound. I was proven wrong! I have had four year olds come up to me and start singing the song and on the opposite spectrum, have retirees dancing away! This cumbia has appealed to all age groups, and those of different genres, making it a club favorite. ”
The singer, who is also an on air personality at Midwest Tejano Radio, says the song is the most requested track from her album and most popular with fans.
“I think people have gravitated toward this song because it showcases my artist and radio personality side,” she said. “Several of the drops in the song, I say when I’m broadcasting. Bottom line, whether I’m dj’ing or singing it’s all about having fun, ‘I’m gonna make you move your feet!’.”
“Due to it’s popularity, we decided to make a video,” she said.
The video was filmed in St. Paul, Minnesota on the banks of Harriet Island and at Cancun Night Club by videographer Gerry Francis.
“I hope everyone enjoys this video,” she added. “Un beso y abrazo….La Peligrosa!”
