Devin Banda released the official video for her new single,”‘Yo No Soy Asi,” on Friday (June 10).
The visual, directed by Ryan Bazan, showcases the 21-year-old singer in a beauty pageant and more.
“Yo No Soy Asi” is an uplifting Tejano/Norteno cumbia that points out the wrong by judging a book by it’s cover. It’s produced by Mario Ortiz and written by singer-songwriter Saraly Obregon of Monterrey, Mexico-based band Saraly Y La Promesa, who also made an appearance in the video.
“I wanted her to write a song for me that’s pretty much about me,” Banda told Tejano Nation’s Mingo Mariano during the filming of the video. “Being in the music industry and being in the limelight you get a lot of feedback, some is negative, and this is my way of making fun of the negativity. That’s the best way to look at it, making something positive out of a negative and that’s how I’m going to do it. I love this song so much.”
The video was filmed at Texas Old Towne Stone Hall in Kyle, Texas. You’ll see cameos from Tejano Nation’s Mingo Mariano as pageant host, Tejano singers Crystal Torres, Angel Gonzalez, Jessica Sanchez and more.
“Yo No Soy Asi” is the latest from Banda’s highly-anticipated debut album set to be released later this summer on the Warbucks Music Group label.
