Rising Tejano/Pop singer Ashley Borrero has announced her first solo gig, since joining Angel Y Vimana, will take place at Austin’s Toro Negro Lounge on Wednesday, September 9, 2015.
“I’m super excited to announce my first solo gig in a long time,” Borrero posted on Facebook on Sunday. “Come out to El Toro Negro, Wednesday, Sept. 9th and be ready to dance the night away!”
The 2011 Tejano Idol winner will debut her new solo single the same night at the free event.
“The single is a cumbia written by Vick Nash Espinoza and produced by Rick Fuentes with help from my uncle Phillip Borrero,” Ashley told TejanoNation.net. “It’s upbeat, but it’s definitely a ‘he done me wrong’ kind of song.”
“As for a full album that’s still in the works,” Ashley said. “It’ll be coming, but we don’t have a foreseeable date yet.”
As the 27-year-old singer from Austin embarks on her solo career, she plans to still be a part of Vimana.
“Right now, I’m doing both,” she said. “I love Angel and the guys in Vimana and I’m super lucky to have their support and have some of the Vimana band back me up for the Sept. 9th gig.”
We asked Ashley what her fans can expect on this special night.
“They should expect the unexpected,” she laughed. “We will be playing music from other genres not just Tejano. Be ready to dance and have a good time! Plus, there’s no cover and what’s better than a free event!”
Austin’s Toro Negro Lounge is located at 615 W. Slaughter Lane, on the southwest corner of Slaughter Lane and South 1st. No cover for the event and the performance begins at 8:30 p.m.
