Hola!
August 20 will be here before you know it, and the voting for the Greatest Show on Earth, the #PremiosTuMundo on #Telemundo has been fast, furious and repetitive!
If only somehow Telemundo could find a way to hire Precinct Captains to buy lunch for the voters it would be just like a Chicago election.
In any event, this is such a fantastic awards show, unlike anything you have ever seen, because everyone shows up, everyone dresses up, and the almost every category involves a winning combination of good looks, bad behavior, and lunacy.
Plus the music is FANTASTIC!
Even if you have never seen a Novela, you will love this spectacle of excess and will want to watch every Novela you can.
I want to fill you in on more of the Nominees, in the Category of “El Malo Mas Bueno,” which means “The Evil Guy Who Is Also the Most Handsome.”
There are 4, but I’ll be honest, I don’t know how the people at Telemundo narrow the competitors in these categories to only 4 people-I think everyone should get an award.
That’s how good they are.
So I have already told you all about Juan Pablo Llano who was so compelling, hypnotizing and INSANE in #DuenosDelParaiso. I actually got to meet him at the Premiere event for #BajoelMismoCielo (because he is in that great Novela now)!!
After I confessed my huge crush to poor Juan Pablo, I also asked him to recreate a bit from #DDP without punching me in the face.
And he graciously obliged and hypnotized me with his “Paola” bit, even though my name is not “Paola.”
I love Juan Pablo Llano.
You know who else I love?
Miguel Varoni, Contestant #2.
Miguel Varoni is a living legend in novelas, and he probably could have won a Lifetime Achievement Award 3 novelas ago.
This time he is nominated for his work as Colombian drug kingpin and Mr 1970’s Miami Beach Leandro Quezada in #DDP, which really was a showcase for genuinely evil behavior, absolute insanity, and Nik-Nik shirts, since it was set in Miami during the 1970’s.
You can see Miguel Varoni here in yellow.
I’ll tell you what: I’m not sure where the Wardrobe Department found my father’s “Resort Wear Collection” from
1977, but they put it to great use.
From pretending to have cancer so his girlfriend the doctor could bring him morphine everyday,
to inviting Kate del Castillo to lunch in a shopping mall filled with assassins, holding her chair, putting the napkin in her lap, encouraging her to order what ever she wanted to, and then yelling for everyone to kill her before the bread course,
to always yelling about “hippies smoking la marihuanita” and botching assassinations because of it,
to cruising the Everglades in the same boat they used in “Gentle Ben,”
to trying to kill his angry adult son ten gazillion times,
to his never ending collection of crocodiles and pastel-colored leisure suits, to his Irving “Swifty” Lazar glasses, to the mind-games he played on his daughter Paola and his Mini-Me Ignacio Elizondo, and everything in between, Miguel Varoni gave us one of the most unforgettable and unforgivable characters in Novela history!
Next up, Jose Resendez as “El Teca” in another crazy-train Novela#SenoraAcero.”
More to come in him soon!
Vota ya!!!
