A Song for Mothers: “Mujer”

Astudillo’s journey with “Mujer” began when he was just 16 years old. Wanting to give his mother a meaningful gift, he started writing this song. He sang it a cappella to her on Mother’s Day, marking the beginning of a song that would evolve over the years.

Years later, Astudillo decided to produce the song in a studio. Initially, it was meant to be a personal piece for his family. However, he realized that the song could serve as a tribute to all mothers and women. “It’s a tribute to all the moms, single moms, the young moms, old moms. And in reality, it’s a tribute to women, to all the incredible women that give us their unconditional love,” Astudillo shared with Bo Corona.

“Mujer” is a song that can be sung to any woman who has made a significant impact in one’s life. It’s a tribute to women and what they do for us, acknowledging their unconditional love and the sacrifices they make.

A Career Filled with Blessings and Learning

Astudillo considers himself extremely blessed in his life and career. Despite a childhood filled with hard work, he describes it as amazing. He attributes much of his success to the incredible people he’s been surrounded by throughout his life, including Selena Y Los Dinos.

Astudillo didn’t formally study music or writing. Instead, he learned from the people around him and the experiences he had. “I try to be a sponge and learn from everyone. And no matter your age, I mean, or your background or what you do, I try to learn from everyone and take those experiences and put them into stories,” he said.

Upcoming Collaboration with David Lee Garza

Astudillo also revealed an upcoming collaboration with Tejano legend David Lee Garza. The project, which also involves Country artist Gabe Garcia, guitarist Billy O’Rourke, and others, is a fusion of country and Latin sounds. Astudillo described it as a recap of what they’ve been through and a look towards the future. “It’s a fusion country with Latin sounds, kind of like (Texas) Tornados. Okay, a little bit of mariachi country.”

As we celebrate Mother’s Day and look forward to Astudillo’s new releases, we’re reminded of the power of music to tell stories, to honor, and to connect. Whether it’s a tribute to mothers with “Mujer” or a unique fusion of musical styles with David Lee Garza, Astudillo continues to touch hearts with his music.
