Freddie Records has revealed a first official sneak peek at the cover art for Su Legado 1938, the highly anticipated new album from Latin Grammy-winning Tejano and Norteño powerhouse Grupo Siggno.
The upcoming project promises brand-new music from one of the most dynamic and influential groups in the genre today, with more details expected to be announced soon. But beyond the excitement, Su Legado 1938 carries a deeply personal story at its core.
Frontman Jesse Turner poured his heart into the album during one of the most difficult moments of his life. Following the passing of his mother in August, Turner turned to music as a way to cope with grief in the days leading up to her funeral.
“I went into the studio and I wrote a bunch of songs because I didn’t want to be home and I didn’t want to be sad,” Turner shared in a recent interview with The Bo Corona Show. “So I finished the album during that time. I sang before my mom was buried, and I wrote her a song.”
That emotional period became the foundation for Su Legado 1938, which stands as a tribute to his mother and her lasting influence. The album’s cover art reflects that devotion, featuring a heartfelt image of Turner alongside his mother — a visual that has already resonated deeply with those close to the project.
Among them was La Firma frontman Louie Padilla, a respected songwriter whose impact on Tejano and Norteño music spans decades. Padilla, known for crafting hits recorded by David Lee Garza y Los Musicales, Intocable — including fan favorites like “Soñador Eterno” and “Coqueta” — as well as Grupo Pesado and others, was moved by the tribute.
The artwork stirred something personal for Padilla, who revealed he had written three songs for his own mother after her passing 13 years ago — songs he had never intended to release.
But his bond with Turner led to a change of heart.
“He said, ‘Let’s do this song that I’ve had for my mom,’” Turner recalled.
That moment gave birth to “La Ausencia,” a brand-new collaboration that embodies shared grief, remembrance, and healing. The track is set to be a centerpiece of Su Legado 1938, further elevating the album’s emotional depth.
With its blend of heartfelt storytelling and signature Siggno sound, Su Legado 1938 is shaping up to be one of the most meaningful releases of the year in Tejano and Norteño music.
Fans can expect more announcements soon as Grupo Siggno prepares to share this deeply personal chapter — one rooted in love, loss, and legacy.
