SAN ANTONIO, TX — Sunny Sauceda is taking fans back to his roots while pushing forward with a fresh sound in his latest release, “Mujeres, Mujeres.” The Azteca Ranch Music recording artist has unveiled a revitalized version of the beloved track, blending nostalgia with the vibrant, high-energy style that has defined his career.
Recorded at Velasquez Music and produced by 16-time GRAMMY Award-winning engineer Gilbert Velasquez, the new studio version captures Sauceda’s unmistakable accordion-driven sound while staying true to the song’s original essence. The release serves as an early preview of his upcoming full-length Tejano album, expected to drop in mid-May.
But “Mujeres, Mujeres” is more than just a reimagined hit—it’s a deeply personal piece of Sauceda’s family history. The song was originally written in 1952 by his father when he was just 13 years old, later recorded in the 1960s, and revisited multiple times throughout Sauceda’s career, including during his youth and with his group Vida.
Speaking with Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo, Sauceda shared the inspiration behind revisiting the track once again.
“This thing has stood the test of time,” he said. “A lot of my program director friends were asking me for that nostalgia… the sounds of back when. So I decided to record an album of some of our legacy hits and reintroduce them to new audiences.”
The new version was recorded as a live-style studio session, emphasizing authenticity over perfection.
“We all went in there and recorded it in one shot—back to back to back,” Sauceda explained. “There was very little to none, no overdubbing. What you hear is what you get… we tried not to polish it because the idea was to make it as raw as possible.”
For Sauceda, the song also carries emotional weight as a tribute to the women in his life.
“As a brother of seven sisters, a father of three daughters, and a husband, ‘Mujeres, Mujeres’ is like an anthem for women,” he said. “We love our women and we’re so grateful for them.”

Known for seamlessly blending Country with Tejano and Tex-Mex influences, Sauceda continues to resonate with audiences across Texas and beyond. His upcoming album promises to expand on that signature fusion while celebrating the legacy that helped shape his sound.
“I’m excited to share what my soul is all about—great English and Spanish Texas music for everyone to enjoy and dance to,” Sauceda added.
Currently, Sauceda is bringing that energy to fans on his Straight Tequila Tour, performing at Tejano events and honky-tonks throughout the region. With “Mujeres, Mujeres” leading the way, he’s proving that timeless music—especially when rooted in family and tradition—can always find new life with the next generation.
