PASADENA, TX — For four decades, La Fiebre has remained one of the most electrifying and enduring forces in Tejano music. Known as “The Pride of Pasadena,” the legendary group—founded in 1985 by Rudy Rocha and Joe Angel Reynosa—continues to evolve while honoring the signature sound that made them icons.
From humble beginnings on Joseph Street in Pasadena, Texas, La Fiebre quickly transformed from a local rock band into a Tejano trailblazer. Their early performances at weddings and quinceañeras laid the foundation for a career that would soon include chart-topping hits, platinum albums, and unforgettable live shows packed with high-energy production.
Their breakout came with the 1988 release of Contagious, featuring hits like “Vestida De Color De Rosa” and “Por Tu Culpa,” followed by the platinum-selling On The Rise in 1989, which delivered the smash single “Borracho De Besos.” With a blend of powerful vocals, dynamic brass, and cutting-edge stage production, La Fiebre helped redefine the Tejano concert experience.
A Legacy Reinforced by Change
Over the years, La Fiebre has navigated lineup changes while maintaining its identity under the steady leadership of Rocha and Reynosa. The band’s horn-driven sound—an essential element since its early years—remains intact with the return of original member Rick Patino on trumpet and saxophone, reinforcing the group’s classic musical foundation.
Also spotlighted are the Talamantez brothers, with Rey Talamantez contributing to the band’s powerful brass section and Abel Talamantez stepping in as the group’s newest lead vocalist. Abel, an internationally recognized Latin Grammy artist and former member of Menudo, MDO, Kumbia Kings, and Los Super Reyes, brings a fresh, modern energy to La Fiebre’s timeless sound. His debut performance in February 2026 marked a pivotal moment, drawing an enthusiastic response from fans.
The Freddie Records Era and Beyond
La Fiebre’s continued success includes a Grammy nomination in 1998 for Fiebre Live…En Concierto! during their tenure with Freddie Records, a label that remains part of their legacy today. With gold and platinum albums like No Cure and 911, the group cemented its place among Tejano music’s elite.
Despite major transitions in 2025—including the departure of several longtime members and ongoing legal matters—the band has once again reloaded with a talented lineup. New additions like Raymond Anthony Garza (keyboards), Daniel “D-Rock” Sandoval (drums), and Wero Falcon (accordion) bring decades of experience and a renewed musical edge.
