Conjunto Distinto Debuts ‘La Creación de Un Album’ Documentary, Showcasing Their Journey in Music

Houston, TX — The journey of one of Tejano music’s most promising new groups is now front and center with the release of La Creación de Un Album Documentary: Conjunto Distinto, a new film offering fans an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the band’s rapid rise.

The documentary captures the passion, dedication, and artistry that define Conjunto Distinto’s sound, following their evolution from young musicians with a dream to a rising force in Tejano music. Ranging in age from 12 to 21, the Dallas-based group has quickly built a reputation for blending classic conjunto roots with a fresh, modern energy.

A pivotal turning point in their journey came with their discovery by Tejano superstar and Up Above Entertainment President David Olivarez. His mentorship and belief in the band helped open doors and validate their place among the next generation of Tejano artists.

“The film is a glimpse into the journey that goes beyond the music and tells the story of a family, dedication, heritage and following dreams,” Olivarez explains in the documentary.

In one powerful moment featured in the film, Olivarez recalls seeing the group command the stage: “And man, they sounded wonderful. They had the crowd screaming, and for the finale, which of course, they made it to the finale, they had everybody come on stage. And when I see you guys as a family unit, it just brings a lot of joy to my heart, and I just can’t wait to see how far you guys are going to go, and I’m going to be right there beside you as long as you let me.”

The documentary also celebrates the release of the band’s first two singles, “La Única Estrella” and “Me Arrepiento,” which lay the foundation for their self-titled debut album. Both tracks showcase the group’s signature style — heartfelt lyrics, dynamic instrumentation, and a sound that honors tradition while pushing the genre forward.

The album was produced by Negami’s Carlos Villegas and Latin Grammy Award winner Mundo Gomez for Up Above Entertainment. The collaboration brings together award-winning production and authentic Tejano musicianship, creating a project that bridges generations of conjunto fans.

Further solidifying their momentum, Conjunto Distinto recently earned a nomination for Vocal Group of the Year at the Premios Tejano Mundial, marking a major milestone for the young ensemble.

Band member Juan Moreno, segunda voz and bajo sexto player, reflects in the documentary on how a key performance opportunity changed everything. He credits participation in Olivarez’s concurso for boosting their confidence and visibility, recalling how performing in front of thousands at Traders Village in Grand Prairie helped propel them forward.

“I think that if it hadn’t been for that… maybe nothing would’ve happened. Maybe, but we wouldn’t be here. I think that’s where it lifted us up,” Moreno shares in the film.
