Three-time Latin Grammy Award–winning producer and songwriter Kris Domz (born Chris Domínguez) is on the road to recovery following quadruple bypass heart surgery, a life-saving procedure he underwent on January 23, 2026, at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The 41-year-old hitmaker—widely respected for his work with Tejano and Latin music icons including La Mafia, Kumbia Kings, and Alicia Villarreal—has been candidly sharing updates with fans and friends on social media, offering an unfiltered look at the physical and emotional toll of the experience, as well as his deep gratitude for the outpouring of support.
On January 29, Kris Domz revealed that he had officially been discharged from the hospital.
“I have been discharged today from the hospital after my quadruple bypass heart surgery!” he wrote. “Getting in the truck is really hard and a lot of pain / soreness everywhere. I have a few months of hard recovery then things should start getting a bit closer to normal. Happy to be at this point!”
In earlier updates, Kris Domz detailed the difficult early days of recovery, including severe bruising, swelling, breathing challenges, and limited mobility. By Day 5, however, he shared signs of progress.
“Today was best improvement. I can walk but have to pace myself. Breathing better is the best thing,” he posted, noting extensive bruising and swelling on his legs, feet, and chest from the surgery. “But I’ll take today as a huge difference from the last few days.”
Despite the pain, Kris Domz described the experience as profoundly life-altering.
“I feel reborn again… having to learn to breathe again, walk again… it’s a truly humbling but beautiful moment during the hardest time in my life,” he wrote. “We take simple things in life for granted… then when they are limited or taken away, it’s life changing and wakes you up to appreciate life more.”
In a separate post from Day 4, Kris Domz apologized for looking “a bit rough” in a photo but emphasized that it marked the first day he was able to breathe better and speak more comfortably after days of intense pain and sleeplessness.
He also shared that the unexpected medical crisis will keep him out of work for several months and that he will require nursing care and help at home during his recovery. Domz took time to thank his family members who have remained by his side, as well as his fans and friends for their prayers, messages, and generous donations.
“A week ago I had no idea I would be going thru all of this,” he wrote. “But God is good. Just glad I caught it in time and to be alive right now.”
Kris Domz added that close friends are discussing plans for a benefit show or dance in the near future, with hopes that he will be able to attend and personally thank supporters while celebrating life.
