SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Elida Reyna y Avante etched their names even deeper into Tejano music history on December 12, delivering a sold-out Grand Finale concert at the iconic Majestic Theatre in downtown San Antonio. The historic night marked the end of a remarkable 34-year touring career for the two-time Latin Grammy Award–winning group and served as a powerful celebration of legacy, love, and community.
From the moment Elida Reyna took the stage, the Majestic was filled with emotion as fans—many of whom have followed her journey for decades—sang along to timeless hits including “Duele” and “Luna Llena.” The evening was elevated by special guest appearances from Tejano legends and superstars Elsa Garcia, Michael Salgado, Jesse Turner of Siggno, Lucky Joe, and Mariachi Campanas de America, turning the farewell concert into a once-in-a-lifetime reunion of Tejano excellence.
Tejano Nation award-winning photojournalist Mariaelena Villarreal was on hand to document the historic moment, capturing powerful images that reflect the significance of the night and its place in Tejano music history.

For Reyna—the most awarded artist in Tejano Music Awards history with an astounding 42 career wins—the Grand Finale was about much more than saying goodbye. It was a full-circle homecoming.
“I chose San Antonio because it is here that I stepped into the spotlight back in 1994 at the Tejano Music Awards for the very first time,” Reyna shared. “And it is here, at the iconic Majestic Theatre, that I will take the stage one last time.”
That final performance symbolized the culmination of decades of connection between Reyna, Avante, and generations of fans who grew up with her music as the soundtrack to their lives.
Though retiring from touring, Reyna has made it clear that this is not the end—just a new beginning. In a recent interview with KENS 5, she shared that she is stepping into a new chapter centered on faith, family, and entrepreneurship.
“I’m leaving it in God’s hands,” Reyna said. “I have so many things that I want to do. I have a couple of businesses I want to be all in on now. One of my passions was starting a makeup line, which was so successful, but when you’re so engulfed in music, you kind of lose track. Now I get to focus on those other dreams.”
In one of her final radio interviews before the farewell concert, Reyna shared a heartfelt message with fans on Tejano 95.7 FM during a conversation with San Antonio Radio Hall of Famer Jonny Ramirez—a moment that perfectly captured the spirit of the night.
“I love you and thank you for these 34 years you’ve given me,” Reyna said. “I’ve been so blessed. Thank you for this journey. I’m stepping into another chapter of my life, and God is in it. I’m at peace, and I’m so grateful that I’m going out on my own terms. God’s plan is bigger than mine—and He has a plan for you too.”

As Elida Reyna y Avante took their final bow at the Majestic Theatre, fans witnessed more than the end of a touring career—they witnessed history. With the same heart, power, and passion that defined their rise, one of Tejano music’s most beloved groups closed a legendary chapter, leaving a legacy that will echo for generations to come.
