Tejano music legend Roberto Pulido has been hospitalized after suffering a fall while getting into his truck, his son Bobby Pulido shared via social media.
“My dad fell while getting into his truck. Broke 5 ribs. He’s in a lot of pain, but stable, thank God. He will not be able to perform with me this weekend in Fort Myers, Florida. Thank you for your prayers,” Bobby posted.
Roberto Pulido has been appearing as a special guest on his son’s Por La Puerta Grande Tour, which marks the final tour for both artists. The tour serves as a retirement celebration for Roberto after more than 50 years in music, while Bobby prepares for a run for public office in Texas’ 15th Congressional District in 2026.
In May, Roberto Pulido released his final studio album, Cuida Bien A Tu Mama, a heartfelt tribute to his legacy with Los Clasicos. The project was produced by Bobby Pulido and co-produced by multiple Grammy winner Gilbert Velasquez.
Affectionately known as “El Primo”, the 75-year-old has been a pioneer in Tejano music for over five decades. Born and raised in Edinburg, Texas, he is credited with introducing the accordion and saxophone into his sound, bridging traditional conjunto with modern Tejano styles. His band Los Clasicos produced regional classics such as “Copa Tras Copa,” “Simplemente,” and “Señorita Cantinera.”
Pulido’s influence has inspired generations of musicians, and his contributions remain an essential part of Tejano music history.
