The Mexican Standoff, an all-female Mexican American band, is hitting the road this week with a string of shows across Arkansas and Texas as part of their Hola Texas! Tour, celebrating their debut album released in March.
This week’s tour dates kick off Thursday, September 25, at Levitt AMP in Fort Smith, Arkansas, before heading to Texas with stops at Texas Music Café in Waco on Friday, September 26, The ABGB in Austin on Saturday, September 27, and wrapping up at The Lighthouse in San Antonio on Sunday, September 28.
“It’s long overdue to play Texas after the release of Hola Texas!” frontwoman Fernanda Ulíbarri tells Tejano Nation. “We played San Antonio before the pandemic, so it was long due coming to connect with our Texas fans. We’ve never been to Fort Smith, Waco, or Austin, so we are looking forward to connecting with a new audience. And in San Antonio we have a small community so we are super excited for this show, and people should know that we will have local special guests!”

Blending Tejano, country, ranchero, and mariachi with a punk edge, The Mexican Standoff’s Mexamericana sound brings a fresh female-driven perspective to a genre where women have historically been underrepresented. Known for electrifying live shows, the band has quickly built a reputation for breaking barriers and uniting audiences with their high-energy performances.
Their debut album Hola Texas! was recorded in San Antonio and produced by Ulíbarri alongside Max Baca of Los Texmaniacs and veteran producer Joe Treviño, with mastering by Kurt Wipfli. The project features collaborations with Grammy-winning icons Flaco Jimenez and Los Texmaniacs, bridging generations of Texan and Mexican American music.
What began as a vision sparked by Ulíbarri’s discovery of Flaco Jimenez grew into a full album through an Indiegogo campaign. Originally intended as a single track, the project blossomed into a rich tribute to Mexican American musical culture, weaving together tradition, innovation, and punk-fueled storytelling.

“This album is a celebration of Tejano music, its musicians, and the vibrant beginnings of Mexican American musical culture,” Ulíbarri explains. “It’s also about amplifying female voices in a genre that has often overlooked them.”
Fans attending the Hola Texas! Tour can expect a dynamic mix of reimagined classics and original songs that reflect both the deep roots and modern energy of Tejano and Mexicana music — with plenty of the fiery spirit The Mexican Standoff has become known for.
