Austin, Texas — Los Enmascarados, the iconic masked Conjunto from Kingsville, have been selected as Official Showcase Artists at the Folk Alliance International Conference, to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, in January 2026.
The band joins a lineup of over 150 artists from 34 countries of all backgrounds and genres to perform at the conference, presented by Folk Alliance International. “Official Showcases highlight the best folk music in the world across a vast variety of genres. Over 160 jury-selected artists perform on the largest stages of our conference to an audience of venue bookers, agents, record labels, DJs, media companies, and more,” according to the organization website.
According to a press release, FAI Executive Director Jennifer Roe said, “We are proud to see so many incredible artists in so many different varieties of folk music, some of whom live right down the street in New Orleans and some who are coming from halfway around the world. The conference will be a focal point for this community to send a powerful message of hope to the world.”
Los Enmascarados have been bringing their unique brand of original music and high-energy stage shows to audiences all over Texas for over 25 years. Last year, the band released Iluminado on Austin-based Rancho Alegre Records, available on CD, Vinyl LP, and all digital outlets. In July, bandleader JD became a voting member of the Recording Academy, and Iluminado was on the first round ballot of this year’s Latin Grammy Awards.
