AUSTIN, TX — After nearly 30 years of shaping the Tejano music landscape, Latin Grammy-winning artist Bobby Pulido is preparing to take his final bow. As part of his farewell tour, Por La Puerta Grande 2025, Pulido will make a special stop in Austin to honor Texas Latina trailblazers.
On Friday, August 1, 2025, Pulido will perform the national anthem at the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Austin Southpark Hotel.
This exclusive appearance offers fans a rare opportunity to see the Tejano star outside of his farewell concert tour. Known for his charm, sincerity, and powerful vocals, Pulido has spent nearly three decades building a legacy that transcends generations.
In a poignant full-circle moment, Pulido is not saying goodbye alone—he’s sharing the farewell spotlight with his father, Tejano legend Roberto Pulido.
“Thank you so much for supporting my dad,” Bobby recently said. “Because of that support, he was able to put me through college and provide for our whole family. We couldn’t have done it without the people.”
Born and raised in Edinburg, Texas, Pulido’s musical roots run deep. Summers spent behind the scenes at his father’s concerts and the strong foundation provided by his mother helped shape the artist—and man—he would become. A spontaneous collaboration with his father on the song “Contigo” became the turning point in Bobby’s career, leading to a record deal and the release of his debut album, Desvelado, in 1995.
The album arrived just as the Tejano community was reeling from the loss of Selena, and fellow icon Emilio Navaira was taking a new direction. Pulido’s youthful energy and crossover appeal injected fresh life into the genre, modernizing its sound and drawing in a new generation of fans across the U.S. and beyond.
“I really thought the industry was going to stay the same… and it didn’t,” Pulido said in a recent interview, reflecting on Tejano’s evolution and his role in it.
For those who can’t catch Pulido on tour, the TAMACC Women of Distinction Luncheon offers a heartfelt and historic moment to witness one of Tejano’s most beloved voices honor the women shaping the future of Texas.
