Tejano sensation Devin Banda is officially back, and she’s making waves with the teaser for her upcoming music video, “Me Olvidaré de Ti.” After a four-year hiatus, the former Tejano Idol runner-up has returned with renewed passion and a vibrant new EP titled Vamos a Brindar, reminding fans why she became a standout voice in the genre.
The six-track EP, released earlier this year, features Devin’s signature cumbia style—an element that fans immediately gravitated toward. The standout single, “Me Olvidaré de Ti,” has already become a favorite, and the newly released teaser for the official music video has only intensified excitement among her supporters.
“That was the cumbia one that we have. Cumbia was something that people are familiar with me singing,” Banda told Tejano Nation. The track’s catchy rhythm and relatable lyrics deliver the kind of energy that first captured hearts back in 2012 when she emerged as a fan favorite during Tejano Idol.
Devin’s return to music was years in the making. Reflecting on her break, she shared, “I’ve just been working. I’ve been working a lot… with COVID happening, I think that was a start of me kind of just settling down.” But stepping away from the mic only clarified how deeply she missed performing. “When I didn’t have it, I realized how much I loved it and how much I wanted to do it.”
The new EP is a heartfelt collaboration, created alongside her husband, Tejano artist Lucky Joe, as well as Latin Grammy winner Mariano Herrera and award-winning producer Gabriel Zavala. Marrying creative energies with Lucky Joe, whom she wed in September 2023, brought a unique dynamic to the project. “It was really fun,” Devin said. “We got to experience that whole two artists joining one project together.”
Devin Banda’s 2017 debut album Unstoppable earned her a nomination for Best New Female Artist at the Tejano Music Awards, and her latest release proves she hasn’t missed a beat. With the full music video for “Me Olvidaré de Ti” set to drop on Friday, May 2, fans can expect more surprises as she gears up for live performances and the release of the complete album later this year.
As she reconnects with longtime fans and reaches new audiences, Devin Banda’s comeback is more than a return—it’s a revival of her voice, her vision, and her undeniable presence in Tejano music.
