Renowned Tejano radio personality Bonnie Hernandez has announced her departure from KLMO 98.9 FM in San Antonio after five years and is embarking on an exciting new chapter with Latino Media Network. Hernandez shared the news on social media, revealing her return to the Rio Grande Valley airwaves after more than four years.
Beginning April 2, 2025, Hernandez will serve as the morning show host on KYWW Puro Tejano 1530 AM in McAllen, Texas, from 6 AM to 10 AM. Additionally, she will take on midday hosting duties on KXTN Tejano & Proud 1530 AM in San Antonio, a station with a storied legacy in Tejano music.
“After 14 years, God has answered my prayers and given me an opportunity beyond what I imagined,” Hernandez expressed in her heartfelt announcement. “I am so honored to be back on the air in the Rio Grande Valley and to be part of the team bringing back KXTN to its former glory.”
Latino Media Network, which recently acquired 18 radio stations from Univision, including 10 AM and 8 FM stations in major U.S. markets, has provided Hernandez with what she calls a “dream job.” She expressed deep gratitude to the LMN team for recognizing her passion and welcoming her with open arms.
Hernandez’s new role marks a homecoming for the radio veteran, who previously captivated listeners on Que Pasa 99.5 in the Rio Grande Valley. She invites Tejano fans to tune in and be part of this new journey, promising to entertain, inspire, and uplift her audience every morning.
“Valley, I’M BACK!” she declared enthusiastically.
Listeners can catch Bonnie Hernandez on KYWW 1530 AM in the RGV every weekday from 6 AM to 10 AM and on KXTN 1530 AM in San Antonio during the midday slot.
