AUSTIN, TEXAS — On February 18, 2025, the Texas House of Representatives declared the day as Texas Music Advocacy Day, celebrating the state’s rich and diverse musical heritage. The resolution, introduced by Texas State Representative Todd Hunter of District 32, which represents Aransas county and part of Nueces county, was passed to honor the Texas Chapter of the Recording Academy and recognize the contributions of Texas musicians, including Tejano star Bobby Pulido.
Pulido was one of several musicians honored on the Texas Senate floor, joining other luminaries such as gospel singer Yolanda Adams and rapper Paul Wall. The resolution acknowledged the contributions of iconic Texas artists like Beyoncé, Erykah Badu, and Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, whose influence extends beyond the state, earning them accolades at the Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards.

The event also emphasized the vital role of music educators across Texas and celebrated the immense impact the music industry has on the state’s economy, which supports over 210,000 jobs and generates billions of dollars. Representative Hunter and the Texas House of Representatives highlighted the importance of the Texas Chapter of the Recording Academy, recognizing its ongoing efforts to promote music education and support the state’s music industry.
For Pulido, being part of Texas Music Advocacy Day was a significant honor. He shared his gratitude on social media, stating, “Truly honored to have been recognized today on the Texas Senate floor alongside the incredible Yolanda Adams and Paul Wall for #TexasMusicAdvocacyDay at the State Capitol! Grateful for the support and proud to represent Texas music!”
The resolution also extended best wishes to the members of the Texas Chapter of the Recording Academy for their continued success and impact on the Texas music community. Music Advocacy Day advocates for policies that support the music industry, which continues to play a critical role in Texas’s cultural vibrancy and its economic growth. With its deep musical roots in genres like Tejano, Texas country, and more, the state remains a cornerstone of the American music scene, with Pulido continuing to be an important representative of that legacy.
