Los Enmascarados are having a moment. The beloved masked group from Kingsville has specialized in hardcore Conjunto with fun, original songwriting, and high-energy stage shows for over 25 years. Their followers are the definition of fanatics and anxiously await every new album and every show.
This weekend alone, they have shows in Kingsville on Friday, San Antonio on Saturday and Sunday, with meet and greet events at Janie’s Record Shop in San Antonio on Saturday afternoon, and Austin’s Turntable Records on Sunday afternoon (weather permitting).
They’re celebrating a few things: a big birthday for bandleader JD, an upcoming wedding for drummer AV, the launch of their website, and of course, their brand new album, Iluminado, available Tuesday on digital, CD, and Vinyl LP on Austin-based Rancho Alegre Records.
Iluminado was recorded this past summer with David Escalante at San Antonio recording studio Escalante Music, which has earned a solid reputation for great Conjunto recordings over the years. Artists like Roger Arocha, Conjunto Puro Corazon, Joe Zimmerle, Mark Weber, Brenda Martinez, and more have recorded albums at the west side studio.
With 13 tracks, Iluminado boasts a mix of originals (including “La Güerita de Florida” written in honor of JD’s granddaughter) and covers, with cumbias, rancheras, and popurris sure to please their faithful fanbase and also bring new fans into the EWO (Enmascarado World Order) fold.

Iluminado will be for sale at the following events this weekend and officially lands in stores and on all digital platforms on Tuesday, December 17th.
