Mike Gonzalez and The Iconiczz have unveiled their latest cumbia, “Es Imposible,” a track that showcases the band’s continued evolution as they prepare for the release of their much-anticipated sophomore album. The track was produced by AJ Castillo and Mike Gonzalez, marking the second release from the award-winning group since their debut.
This new single follows the success of their first album, Te Llevo En Mi Alma, which earned them accolades at the 43rd Tejano Music Awards, including Best New Group and Best New Female Artist for singer Di Marie. As Mike Gonzalez and The Iconiczz continue to make waves in the Tejano music scene, they’ve also recently signed with AJ Castillo’s G Music, where they are already hard at work in the studio, aiming to complete the new album.
“Hopefully, we’re trying to get it done by the end of this year. But for sure, the beginning of next year, it’ll be done,” Gonzalez shared with Tejano Nation. “It’s great working there at A.J.’s studio. It’s an amazing place. It’s absolutely state of the art.”
The Iconiczz have always paid tribute to Mike’s late father, Tejano legend Jimmy Gonzalez, whose influence is deeply woven into the fabric of their music. At every performance, the band honors his legacy by playing a diverse range of songs spanning the decades, from the early ’70s to his solo career in the 2000s, alongside their own contemporary hits. “So you go to an Iconiczz show, and you’re going to hear songs from all these eras,” Gonzalez explains. “It’s a celebration of the music that shaped Tejano and a way to keep that history alive while forging our own sound.”
“Es Imposible” is available now on all digital platforms, adding another milestone to the band’s promising journey as they continue to define their place in the Tejano music industry.
