Tejano Nation, the news and media company dedicated to promoting and preserving Tejano culture, is thrilled to announce the addition of Isaac Castillo, the sole owner and operator of Sweetlife Photography, as a contributing photographer. Based in the Rio Grande Valley, Isaac will cover Tejano and Conjunto events across South Texas, bringing his lifelong passion for Tejano culture to our platform.
Isaac Castillo’s journey into photography began as a hobby in 2021, inspired by his deep-rooted love for Tejano music, a passion instilled in him by his father. “Growing up, Tejano music was a big part of my life. My dad was the one who introduced me to it. I started going to Tejano concerts and events, and I started my photography as a hobby in 2021, not knowing what was to come. I didn’t know anything about photography; I bought a camera and just went to have fun. Everything I know was self-taught, with the help of others along the way who saw potential in me,” Isaac shared.
His dedication and talent quickly turned his hobby into a profession. By 2022, Isaac had his first paid event, and since then, he has become a familiar face at local Tejano events, award shows, and festivals such as Fan Fair, Fiesta, and Tejano Explosion. “I’ve been supported by some of the biggest names in the Tejano scene, from Stefani Montiel, Destiny Navaira, Los Garcia Brothers, Sunny Sauceda, and so many more,” Isaac said. “I saw that Tejano shows weren’t as packed as they should be, and that’s when I started my passion for keeping Tejano alive. I feel like the next generation should keep the tradition alive.”
Isaac’s future plans are ambitious and inspiring. He aims to become a respected photographer in the Tejano scene, create music videos, open his own studio, and be present at the biggest award shows. “I love Tejano music and all genres that fall under it. You can find me out there dressed as the people in the crowd because I truly enjoy it. I feel like Tejano music has to evolve so we can capture the young crowd and give these young rising stars a chance,” Isaac emphasized.
John Henry Medina, Director of Digital and Radio Content at Tejano Nation, expressed his excitement about Isaac joining the team. “Isaac Castillo brings his passion and love for Tejano culture to Tejano Nation, showcasing it in his photographs. We are thrilled to have him on board and look forward to seeing Tejano culture through his lens. Look for Isaac Castillo representing Tejano Nation at events big and small.”
With Isaac Castillo on board, Tejano Nation is set to bring even more vibrant and authentic coverage of Tejano and Conjunto events to our fans. Welcome, Isaac!
