Rising Tejano star Gabriella Martinez has received her first Latin Grammy nomination for her debut EP, “Siempre Gabriella.” The Latin Recording Academeny announced the nominations on Tuesday (Sept. 17) for the 25th annual Latin Grammy Awards set for Miami, Florida, in November.
The Florida-bred singer shared her excitement in a TikTok video from “The Happiest Place on Earth,” Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Gabriella said, “I’m super excited because I’m officially a Latin Grammy nominee for Best Tejano Album. I’m so blessed, so grateful, so excited. This is insane y’all.”
She continued, “I want to give a huge shout out to of course my family, my parents for believing in me, pushing me to be the best that I can always be. Super grateful for y’all. Thank you to God of course none of this would be possible without God. All my faith that I put into the Lord, it’s just been, it’s starting to pay off and I’m really, really excited.”
The 22-year-old singer, who now resides in Houston, praised the producers of her now Latin Grammy-nominated album, including Latin Grammy winner Mariano Herrera and Latin Grammy nominee El Dusty. The project was produced at Dusty’s Produce Sound Studios in Corpus Christi, Texas. “Y’all already know the vibes. I love y’all so, so much. You made my vision come to life,” she said. Gabriella also thanked songwriters Ramon Reyna, Cesar Morquecho, and Jonathan Espinosa for their contributions.
Gabriella added, “I’m so excited. I don’t even know what to say. I’ve been shaking all day. This is exciting. This is just a new journey for me and I’m extremely grateful. I’m extremely blessed. So, thank you. And to the fans, thank y’all for getting me here. Thank you for being here for me. Thank you for being on this journey. This is just the beginning y’all. Let’s do it. Latin Grammys baby.”
Gabriella Martinez is one of the rising stars of Tejano music. She was born in Florida and grew up singing at local festivals and events. Inspired to pursue a career in music, she moved to Texas a couple of years ago to chase her dream.
Other nominees for Best Tejano Album include Mexico-based Tejano band Vilax for “Ganas (Deluxe),” marking their third nomination in the category, and “Imperfecto,” the album from Monterrey-based Tejano band El Plan, who won Best Tejano Album in 2021 and are now on their fifth nomination.
Winners for the 25th Latin Grammy Awards will be announced on November 17, 2024, with the Best Tejano Album revealed during a pre-show ceremony.
