Destiny Navaira, a two-time Tejano Music Awards Female Vocalist of the Year and Latin Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, has premiered her new single “Forever” on “Great Day SA“, a lifestyle show on TV station KENS5. This beautiful bilingual release marks a significant moment in her career as she embraces her roots and sets ambitious goals for her future.
“Forever,” which Destiny sings with a sweet but strong voice, marks her first time singing in English as a solo artist. She co-wrote the song with her brother, Rigo Navaira, who is currently working on his debut solo album. The song was produced by Alfonso “Poncho” Herrera and is scheduled for release on May 17, 2024, the night before Destiny’s 32nd birthday.
Destiny shared her excitement about incorporating English into a song, but in a way that native Spanish speakers could still understand. “I’m super excited,” she told “Great Day SA” host Roma Villavicencio. “It’s a little different because it’s a bilingual song, which I really, really enjoyed writing this song. I think it really represents the San Antonio in me.”
Her Texas roots emerge in her voice when she sings in English, and she expressed her love for the song because it represents her Mexican American culture.
“I’m just so excited to be here in San Antonio, you know, sharing my music and just continuing the legacy of La Familia Navaira,” she said. “I’ve just been really blessed throughout my career so far and I look forward to the future.”
As for her upcoming third album, fans can expect to hear her American influences, a bit of R&B, Norteño, and of course, Tejano. The album will also feature some collaborations currently in the works.
“I think it’s so beautiful that Latino music is at the top right now and I just want to have my part of that,” said Destiny. “So that’s kind of what inspired me to keep going and to, you know, just kind of think outside the box. I think right now there’s no limits and just to be a Latina in the music industry right now is something very powerful.”
Destiny Navaira’s new single “Forever” and her upcoming album signify a new chapter in her musical journey. With her unique fusion of sounds and authentic representation of her culture, Destiny is not only continuing her family’s musical legacy but also carving out her own path in the music industry.
Destiny will celebrate the single’s release and premiere the official music video for “Forever” at Tony’s Siesta, located at 206 Brooklyn Ave in San Antonio, on Thursday, May 16, from 9pm – midnight. Pre-save your copy of “Forever” here.
