Roel Martinez, a name synonymous with Tejano music’s rich history, continues to captivate audiences with his latest single, “Aunque Ya No Estes Aqui.” The award-winning singer, known for his dynamic vocal performances, has taken a step away from his signature cumbias to deliver a beautifully crafted melody that resonates with the heartstrings of many.
This new track, produced by the talented Miguel Hernandez, explores the universal theme of love and the pain of separation. “A beautiful, melodic song that is kind of different than what I’ve been doing with cumbias, but it came out really nice. I’ve been getting a good response on it. Hopefully the people like it,” Martinez shares with Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo. “There’s a difference in feelings in this song because you might have lost a loved one or you might have lost a girlfriend or wife and she’s no longer with you, you know, you still love that person, and you are still talking about that you still miss her and all that stuff. It’s a beautiful melodic, romantic song.”
The track features Hernandez on bass, bajo, and guitars with Rey De Leon on accordion, and Aaron Holler on drums, who also mixed and mastered the track at Art of Holler Music.
Recently honored with the Male Vocal Performance of the Year at the 4th annual Premios Tejano Mundial, Martinez is not resting on his laurels. He is currently collaborating with two-time Latin Grammy winner Juan Trevino to complete his upcoming album set for release on May 24, 2024. This partnership promises to bring a new level of artistry to the already impressive repertoire of Martinez.
“We’re really excited because he is producing my last four songs. Having this caliber of songwriter like Mr. Juan Trevino and producer as well, it’s exciting,'” added Martinez.
Hailing from Laredo, Texas, the journey for Martinez in Tejano music includes a stint as the lead singer for the legendary group Rodeo. His powerful voice and charismatic stage presence quickly made him a fan favorite.
His commitment to his roots was recently recognized when he was honored in his hometown, a testament to his impact on the community and the music industry. With a career spanning decades, Martinez remains a pillar of Tejano music, continually evolving and inspiring new generations of artists and fans alike.
“Aunque Ya No Estes Aqui” is now available on all digital music platforms, inviting listeners to experience the depth of Roel Martinez’s artistry and the enduring power of Tejano music.
