
Miami, FL. — The 36th edition of Premio Lo Nuestro was celebrated on Thursday from the Kaseya Center in Miami, the event was broadcast live by Univision and vibrated with world premieres and historic collaborations. The big winner of the night was Colombian superstar Karol G, who took home 9 awards in the categories, Urban Female Artist of the Year, Urban Collaboration of the Year, Urban Album of the Year, Pop-Urban Song of the Year, Pop-Urban/Dance – Song of the Year.
Carin León, Maluma, Peso Pluma, and Shakira each won four awards respectively. Carin León won the awards in the categories: The Perfect Mix of the Year, Mexican Music – Male Artist of the Year, Mexican Music – Collaboration of the Year, and Norteño Song of the Year. His compatriot Peso Pluma won as New Artist Male, Mexican Music -Song of the Year, Mexican Music Fusion of the Year, and Mexican Music – Album of the Year. Shakira won 4 awards, including Song of the Year, Pop – Female Artist of the Year, Pop-Urban – Collaboration of the Year, and Pop-Urban – Song of the Year. Maluma won in the categories: The Perfect Mix of the Year, Pop – Male Artist of the Year, and SPop-Urban/Dance – Song of the Year, Mexican Music – Collaboration of the Year.
Hosted by legendary telenovela actress Angélica Vale, actress and television presenter Clarissa Molina and charismatic star Galilea Montijo, the prestigious awards show featured 18 impactful musical performances that included world premieres, unforgettable tributes, and emotional homages. Artists such as Camilo and Evaluna performed their song “PLIS” for the first time on television. Country music superstar Kane Brown and Mexican music sensation Carin León gave a historic performance with the premiere of their latest musical collaboration “The One (Pero No Como Yo)”. The show also featured Machine Gun Kelly in a one-of-a-kind collaboration with one of the greatest reggaeton legends Don Omar, who set the stage on fire with a special performance of the timeless song “Danza Kuduro”.
The night overflowed with emotion as respected figures in Latin music received special honors. Ana Bárbara, from Mexico, received the “Premio Lo Nuestro a La Trayectoria” for her remarkable career. Don Omar was recognized with the “Ícono Global” award for his role in urban music. Meanwhile, Olga Tañón was honored with the “Premio Lo Nuestro a la Excelencia” for her contributions to Latin music.
Additionally, Gente de Zona paid tribute to Celia Cruz with a heartfelt rendition of “La Negra Tiene Tumbao,” evoking nostalgia, and Ilegales celebrated their 30-year journey with an electrifying performance that energized the crowd.
Another moving moment of the night was when Ricardo Montaner performed his song “Tan Enamorado” in tribute to the late pioneer of Hispanic television in the United States and creator of PREMIO LO NUESTRO, Omar Marchant. As a tribute to his legacy, Univision announced the addition of the prestigious award “Visionario de Lo Nuestro”, which starting next year will be granted to an outstanding industry leader who is making a significant impact and promoting continuous progress in this field.
