Angelica Y Moneda have just dropped their new single “Karma,” a song that speaks to the heart of anyone who has ever been hurt or betrayed by someone they trusted. The song is the latest single from their upcoming sophomore album expected to be released in 2024.
“Life inspired us to record this song,” Angelica tells Tejano Nation. “My eyes welled up with tears the first time I heard it and we knew we had to record it. I think the title of the song says it all. We’ve all experienced hurt or betrayal. The funny thing is that we think we’re over a situation, but we never really get over deep hurt. We just push those feelings down so that we can get on with the rest of our lives, but they’re always there. It’s a song like ‘Karma’ that brings all those feelings back up to the surface.”
The song tells the story of a person who finds out that their partner has been cheating on them, but it also applies to any kind of betrayal in relationships or friendships. The song conveys the idea that “what goes around comes around,” that’s “Karma.”
“We believe that there’s good karma and bad karma, what you get is what you give,” Angelica added.
The song was written by Eduardo “Yayo” Anguiano, who lives in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He is an amazing songwriter who currently has another hit song on the Latin Billboard charts called “Neta Que No.”
“Karma” was produced at Rokkore Studio by Grammy Award winner Lorenzo “Papo” Banda, bassist with Elida y Avante. “I had the privilege and honor of producing and being a part of such a great song,” said Banda. “My musical brother and partner on the Moneda project, Tweet Juarez delivers an accordion track that makes you feel the hurt in this song. ‘Karma’ was a challenge for me,” Papo said.
Angelica’s favorite part of the song is the accordion solo by Grammy Award winner Tweet Juarez. “He made the accordion cry. That’s the part of the song that gets me,” she said.
The team is working hard to finish up Angelica’s sophomore album, which will showcase her talent and versatility as a singer and songwriter.
Angelica Y Moneda are wrapping up the holiday season with a trip to Tolleson, Arizona, for the Luces De Navidad event on December 10, where they will perform their new single and other songs from their repertoire. Don’t miss this opportunity to see them live and support their music!
“Karma” by Angelica Y Moneda is available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and other streaming platforms.
