Cindy Ramos is one of the few female artists who have made a name for themselves in the male-dominated genre of Conjunto music. The Laredo native started singing Tejano at the age of 15, influenced by her uncle Gilberto Rodriguez, who taught her about background vocals and songwriting. She also grew up listening to Conjunto legends like Tony De La Rosa and Ruben Vela, thanks to her father’s musical taste.

Ramos is a former vocalist for legendary Tejano group Inocencia and released her debut solo album, “Soy Yo”, in 2018. The album featured a mix of Tejano and Conjunto songs, showcasing her versatility and talent. In 2020, she decided to return to her roots and released her second solo album, “Inicios”, which was entirely Conjunto. The album was produced by Latin Grammy winner Lorenzo “Papo” Banda, who encouraged her to embrace her Conjunto style.

Ramos won the Conjunto Female Entertainer of the Year award at the inaugural Guadalupe Conjunto Awards in 2020 and received recognition from Linda Escobar, the Queen of Conjunto, who passed the torch to her at Escobar’s birthday celebration in 2022. Ramos said her goal is to bring Conjunto to another level and inspire more females to join the genre.

Ramos has also released several singles with her new record label, Tejano Powerhouse Records, including a cover of iconic La Mafia hit “Me Estoy Enamorando” in a Conjunto version, and a romantic ballad called “Que Mas Quieres De Mi”, which she said was initially a Conjunto song but she changed it to a Tejano song because it suited the mood better.

Ramos is not only a singer, but also a wife, a teacher, and an accordion student. She balances her personal and professional life with passion and dedication. She said she is happy to be back in the classroom after a year and a half away due to the pandemic. She is also learning to play the accordion and appreciates everyone’s patience.

Today, September 17th, we celebrate Cindy Ramos’ birthday and wish her many more years of success and happiness. To honor her musical career, we have compiled a list of five must-watch music videos from her YouTube channel. Enjoy!
