
Happy birthday to Elida Reyna, the Tejano music singer who has won multiple awards and captivated audiences with her powerful voice and charismatic stage presence.
The two-time Latin Grammy winner was born on August 17, 1972 in San Antonio, Texas, and started singing at quinceañeras and weddings when she was a teenager. She formed her band Elida Reyna Y Avante in 1992, and since then they have released over 15 albums, including the Latin Grammy-winning Fantasia in 2010. Elida Reyna is also a member of the Las 3 Divas, a trio of female Tejano stars who performed together and recorded an eponymous album in 2005 that was nominated for a Latin Grammy.
Elida Reyna is known as “La Reina Del Valle Mágico” (“The Queen of Magic Valley”) and has a loyal fan base who love her songs that blend Tejano, ranchera, cumbia and pop genres. She has also been recognized for her contributions to Tejano music by being inducted into the Tejano Roots Hall of Fame in 2016.
