Karol G, the Colombian reggaeton star, has released a new song that honors the late Tejano icon, Selena. The song, titled “Mi Ex Tenía Razón” (My Ex Was Right), features a cumbia vibe reminiscent of the ’90s hits of the Queen of Cumbia.
Karol G has expressed her admiration for Selena many times, calling her a role model and an inspiration. In an interview with Billboard, she said: “Selena is a legend. She marked my life in many ways. She taught me to be proud of who I am, of my roots, of my culture. She taught me to love music with passion and to put my heart into everything I do.”
“Mi Ex Tenía Razón” is an homage to Selena’s legacy and a celebration of her music. Karol G said she wanted to create a song that would make people dance and feel good, while also honoring the Latin music legend.
She shared via Instagram: “This song is my baby! A musical style that I have followed and admired all my life and with a special dedication to an artist who made me believe that someday everything that happens to me today, could be possible. Selena Quintanilla, I love you!”
