HOUSTON, TX — The 44th annual Festival Chicano has announced the lineup for this year’s event scheduled for the first weekend in October at the Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston, Texas. This festival is one of the oldest and longest-running free events of its kind in the world, and it showcases the diversity and richness of Chicano music genres. From Tejano and conjunto to mariachi and orchestra, you will enjoy a cultural celebration of the sounds and rhythms of the Chicano community.
The festival runs from Oct. 5 to Oct. 7, and each night features different artists and bands. On Oct. 5, you can catch David Lee Garza y Los Musicales and The Hometown Boys, two legendary groups that have been making Tejano music for decades. On Oct. 6, you can groove to Los Palominos and La 45, two award-winning bands, one that blends conjunto, norteño, and country influences, with the other known as “Next Generation Chicanos”. And on Oct. 7, you can witness Little Joe Y La Familia and Jaime DeAnda, two icons of Tejano music who have influenced generations of musicians.
All performances are free and start at 7 p.m. You can get your tickets for covered seating and more information online at milleroutdoortheatre.com or at the box office on the day of the show. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate Chicano music and culture at Miller Outdoor Theatre, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. This event is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
