Conjunto legend Linda Escobar revealed she has been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. The Hall of Fame singer made the announcement via social media on Wednesday (April 12).
“Well, folks, just got the results of the biopsy, it’s lymphoma cancer,” Escobar posted on Facebook.
The Conjunto icon shared more on Wednesday night replying to those who had shown concern and offered hope after the cancer diagnosis announcement. “I deeply appreciate everyone’s prayers, concern, messages, phone calls, and visits after the unfortunate news regarding the cancer,” she wrote. “I will be going back to MD Anderson in Houston to see the lymphoma doctor next Tuesday. I will have more information about what stage and what treatment I’ll be having; chemo and/or radiation. I have the cancer in two places. The left eyebrow and in the lymph nodes above my left collarbone.”
Escobar, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, added she’s prepared to oppose cancer once again. “I am ready to fight and win this battle. I know God is on my side and I have nothing to fear. FAITH makes everything possible,” she said.

Escobar is considered by many as “La Reina” of Conjunto music and her career spans five decades beginning with her first hit “Frijolitos Pintos,” which became a gold record for the singer when she was just eight years old. The song was co-written with her father, Conjunto legend Eligio Escobar. For about 10 years, Escobar and her father toured the United States, Mexico, and Central America together. The singer has recorded many albums and garnered many awards over her long and successful career.
In memory of her father, who passed away in 1993, and all veterans, she founded El Veterano Conjunto Festival. The annual festival, held in November, benefits the Eligio Escobar Scholarship Fund, established to help young children with musical talent in Conjunto music continue their education. The festival has awarded 65 scholarships since 1999.
