AJ Castillo has been entertaining fans with his high-energy cumbias and the award-winning Tejano star plans to open his own recording studio in San Marcos, Texas.
Castillo announced his plans in an interview with The Bo Corona Show on Thursday (April 6). “I’m actually building my first recording studio and I’m building it in San Marcos, Texas,” said Castillo. “I’m about a month away from being open. It’s going to be called Redwood Studios.
The recording studio will be located between Austin and San Antonio and will be an upscale studio inviting artists and musicians from all over to record in a studio comparable to recording studios in Atlanta or Los Angeles.
The singer and accordionist also shared advice for new artists.
“You got to do it because you love it. It’s in your blood. It’s in our hearts. It’s what we grow up with as Tejano. I’m Tejano,” he told Bo Corona. “I love all kinds of music but Tejano’s in my blood. I always go back to it, there’s no denying anytime I hear a Tejano song, a Norteno type of song, I want to move, I want to dance, and it’s in my blood. I do it because I love it. Never for the money, it’s always for the love. Push the culture forward.”
