Brooke T burst onto the Tejano music scene with the release of her debut album “Clásico” last December. The album is produced by Abraham Quintanilla, father of late Latin music icon Selena.
Quintanilla signed the San Antonio area vocalist after she performed well on Estrella TV talent competition Tengo Talento Mucho Talento in 2019 when she was still in high school. He was impressed with Brooke T’s talent and her love for singing in Spanish, even though she didn’t speak the language but has roots in Mariachi music.
“At first when I signed with Mr Q, he said, ‘I’m not a big fan of mariachi music but let’s get you in the Tejano scene’, because that’s what he likes to do,” Brooke T said in an interview The AC Cruz Podcast. “I’m super thankful he added a few mariachi songs because that’s my roots.”
“Clásico” features eleven songs of various styles, which includes everything from unforgettable and classic songs like “Y Volveré,” Fallaste Corazón,” and “Paloma Negra,” to more current songs, like “Así Fue” and “Quitame Ese Hombre Del Corazon.”
The 20-year-old singer was thrilled to record her very first album. “Honestly, the most amazing experience I’ve ever had in my whole entire life,” she said. “It was my first time in a studio which was kind of mind blowing. It was really awesome.”
Brooke T has strong roots in two cultures — she’s a daughter of a Mexican American mother and Anglo Saxon father — and believes that being raised in both cultures broadens her appeal. She seeks to break all the stereotypes about the two cultures and heritage with her music.
“Clásico” from Brooke T is available to stream or download at all digital music platforms and Q-Productions.com.
