A music festival honoring late Tejano music icon Jimmy Gonzalez is in the works for this summer, according to his family.
A social media post by Adolfo Garcia, son of Cindy Garcia, Gonzalez’s sister the Forever Jimmy G Festival is in the planning stages.
“I’m helping my mom organize this event,” Adolfo confirmed via Facebook. “We are planning an all day Sunday event to make it family friendly. This would happen in June here in Brownsville, Texas. This post is to reach out….who would be interested in going, helping, performing or just want to be part of it in any way.”
Gonzalez was a pioneer, a legend and a multiple Grammy Award winner that achieved international acclaim as part of one of the most successful Tejano groups ever. He died of cardiac arrest in June 2018. He was 67.
Tejano Nation will have more details on the event as they become available.
